The sophomore catcher/designated hitter for Schreiner Softball batted .500 this weekend
in a four-game series with Trinity. In Friday's second game, a 7-3 win over the Tigers,
Sarah was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. In Saturday's second game, she
was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Sarah accounted for five of SU's
six runs in the contest. The Helotes, TX native (O'Connor HS) had more RBI this weekend
than she had all of last year and has almost doubled her freshman year batting average.
She is hitting just under .300 for the year with one home run and 11 RBI which is
second on the team. Sarah is an Exercise Science major who earned SCAC Academic Honor
Roll in 2014.
Quinton is a freshman catcher from Spring, TX (Klein Oak HS). In this week's three-game series with SCAC-leading TLU, he had a .400 batting average. His four hits in the series was tops on the Mountaineer team. He is also considered one of the top defensive catchers in the SCAC, throwing out 28% of the runners who've challenged him so far in 2015. "Q" is also one of a core group of promising freshmen getting valuable playing experience this spring. In 19 games, he made just one error behind the plate. He earned Academic Honor Roll in his first semester at SU.
