Janel begins her third year
as Schreiner's Head Athletic
Trainer. For the prior two
years, she had done a stellar job as
Schreiner University's
Assistant Athletic Trainer. Along
with Luke Montgomery, they share
coverage of the 13 Mountaineer
sports teams. Janel came to
Schreiner in August, 2008 from sunny,
yet crowded Southern California
after completing a Master’s degree
in Sports Psychology at California
State University, Fullerton in May,
2008.
For two years prior to returning to
school for her Master’s, Janel
worked at several area high schools
and local colleges as an athletic
trainer. She also worked with the
Los Angeles Galaxy’s (MLS) youth
program in which Galaxy coaches
brought up young athletes from age
12-20 to show them the work ethic
and skill required to become a MLS
player.
Prior
to attending Cal State Fullerton,
Janel graduated from California
State Polytechnic University, Pomona
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic
Training in 2003. While at Cal
Poly, Janel was a part of the
internship athletic training program
and worked with the women’s
volleyball team and men’s and
women’s track teams.
Janel is excited to be here in the
beautiful Hill Country and working
with such a wonderful staff. She
lives in Kerrville with her
husband, Carl, who teaches natural
horsemanship, and their two cats,
Stewart and Stampy. When not working, Janel
loves traveling, spending time with
Carl, working out, and participating
in all outdoor activities. With
extensive experience in the kitchen,
Janel loves to cook and bake to keep
those around her plump with cookies
and other baked goodies. |
