Trinity Routes Mountaineers, 15-4
Visiting Trinity jumped all over Schreiner in
the opening three innings to quickly take
control of the teams' game in Kerrville.
The Tigers (5-3) scored 12 runs in the first
three innings. Schreiner (1-8) has had
trouble scoring runs so far in 2008 and that
hole was too much to overcome. SU scored
single runs in each of the four middle innings
but it wasn't enough to overcome the big deficit
- or even to put a scare into the visitors.
Trinity scored two runs in the first and then
knocked out starting pitcher Bernard Pena with
five runs in the second and added five more in
the third. Freshman Michael Houser was a
bright spot for the Mountaineers, and has shown
promise in each outing in this young season, by
pitching five innings and allowing only two
earned runs.
Trinity pounded Schreiner pitchers for 18 hits
while SU only was able to account for six hits.
Junior shortstop Ray Martinez was 2-for-2 on the
day while senior Matt Langston also had two
hits. |
