McMurry's Johnson Shuts Out Mountaineers
McMurry starting pitcher Clint Johnson threw a
three-hitter and shut out Schreiner Baseball,
10-0, in Abilene. Johnson struck out 12
Mountaineers in his complete-game nine inning
effort. SU could manage only single hits
in the first, third and sixth innings but never
threatened.
Despite Johnson's dominance, Schreiner (5-5 in
ASC) and junior starting pitcher Chris Armijo
trailed only 1-0 entering the fifth inning.
McMurry's (6-4 in ASC) bats caught up with
Armijo in the fifth and scored six runs.
Freshman Michael Houser came in to relieve
Armijo and gave up two earned runs in 3-2/3
innings of work.
Senior Matt Langston had two of SU's three hits.
Junior Johnny Huizar had the other. |
