Concordia’s Bats on Fire as SU continues to
Struggle
Concordia
jumped out to a 6-0 lead by the second inning
and never looked back as they handed the
Mountaineers their worst loss of the season.
Starting pitcher, Roger Ayala, lasted into the
second inning before SU had to look to the bull
pen. Korey Rose came into the game and pitched
for 5.2 innings, allowing 9 hits and 7 earned
runs, but the damage had long been done. Four
different pitchers took the mound for the
Mountaineers in the last 1 2/3 innings, giving
up 11 hits and 15 earned runs before putting the
29-3 loss into the books.
Bright spots for the Mountaineers offensively
were the always reliable Ray Martinez, who went
2-4 with 2 runs, and had a lead off triple to
start the 7th inning, Marcus Myhaver
pulled his weight at bat with a double and 1 RBI
on the day, and Oscar Ibieta hit 2-4 with 1 RBI
as well.
The loss drops the Mountaineers to 14-21
overall, and 7-12 in ASC Conference play.
Tomorrow, the Mountaineers close out conference
play with a doubleheader against Concordia. |
