Seniors Martinez, Sanchez Lead List of Baseball All-Conference Picks

Schreiner Baseball placed 13 players on the All-ASC West Division team with seniors Ray Martinez and Richard Sanchez leading the way with second team recognition.  Martinez (Boerne, TX/Boerne HS) finished in the top two in nearly all SU's offensive categories.  He was also third in the ASC in on-base percentage (.508), walks (35) and sixth in triples (4).  He hit .377 and was easily the team leader in hits (52), runs scored (43) and total bases (76). 

Sanchez (Uvalde, TX/Uvalde HS) led the Mountaineers in batting with a .382 and was third on the team in slugging percentage (.482).  Both Martinez and Sanchez will graduate this weekend and both have been standout performers in the classroom in addition to on the diamond.

Among the 11 Mountaineers who earned honorable mention All-ASC West were seniors Oliver Stogsdill (San Antonio, TX/Marshall HS) and Roger Ayala (Kerrville, TX/Tivy HS).  Also recognized were juniors Joe Andrew Pena (Benavidez, TX/Benavidez HS), J.D. Escobar (Freer, TX/Freer HS), Colton Hermes (Hallettsville, TX/Hallettsville HS), Michael Houser and Eric Wehmeyer (San Antonio, TX/O'Connor HS), sophomore Oscar Ibieta (San Antonio, TX/Holy Cross HS) and freshman Marcus Myhaver (Houston, TX/Cy Falls HS), Eric Bukowski (Houston, TX/Cy Falls HS) and Korey Rose (New Braunfels, TX/NB Canyon HS).

Myhaver was second on the team in both hits (34) and RBI (26) and third in batting average (.315) and runs scored (24).  Ibieta was first among the Mountaineers in RBI (30) and doubles (11) and second in on-base percentage (.423).  Escobar was second in runs scored with 31.
