Louisiana's Early Lead
Stands Up
Visiting
Louisiana College went
on an early 13-6 run in
the game's opening five
minutes and that ended
up being the difference
as the Wildcats outshot
Schreiner, 81-70.
The two teams competed
for the remaining 35
minutes of the game in a
narrow window.
Louisiana never led by
more than the final
margin of victory and SU
got no closer than four
points. Neither
team could manage a run
and LC couldn't deliver
the knock out blow but
kept the Mountaineers
(2-6, 2-3 in ASC) from
getting any momentum.
The Wildcats (3-7, 2-3
in ASC) were
particularly effective
in the second half,
shooting 59% from the
field. Schreiner
was able to get baskets
in the second half but
Louisiana always
answered every attempt
by the home team to
rally.
Sophomore Keith Perry
led SU with 13 points on
6-for-8 shooting,
including 5-for-5 in the
opening half.
Senior Ronnie Barney had
12 points.
Sophomore Chris
Jones-Conyers played his
first minutes in a
Mountaineer uniform and
contributed 10 points on
4-for-4 shooting in only
12 minutes off the
bench. LC's Josh
Johnson was the game
high scorer with 21
points.
