ETBU Edges Past
Schreiner
On the road in Marshall,
TX, the SU men's basket
team fell to ETBU 72-69.
The Mountaineers and the
ETBU Tigers battled all
night long, and the game
wasn't decided until a
Robert Blackshear
3-pointer at the buzzer
rimmed out.
The Tigers owned a 5
point half-time lead,
and pushed it out to 11
points in the second
half. But the
Mountaineers pulled
their way back into the
game, and with seven
seconds had fought their
way back to a 1 point
deficit at 69-70.
ETBU's La'France Cooper
hit two free throws to
push the Tiger's
advantage out to three
points. Schreiner
got the ball to
Blackshear on the wing
in the closing seconds,
but his three-pointer
missed the mark.
Schreiner was led in
scoring by senior Ronnie
Barney, the ASC West
Co-Player of the Week.
Barney had 15 points and
6 rebounds, both team
highs. La"France
Cooper led the Tigers
with 18 points.
The loss drops the
Mountaineers to 3-7, and
3-4 in conference play.
ETBU moves to 4-9
overall, and 4-4 in ASC
play.
