Sul Ross
State's offense found
great success against
the Schreiner defense
and pulled away for an 83-68
win in Alpine. The
Lobos shot 50% from the
floor in the first half
and nearly 60% in the
second and slowly pulled
away from a 37-37 tie at
halftime to a
comfortable victory.
With the win, Sul Ross
State (4-6 in ASC) moved
to within one half game
of the Mountaineers (4-5
in ASC) in the ASC West
standings.
Senior Ronnie Barney
nearly had a
double-double in leading
Schreiner with 20 points
and 9 rebounds.
Freshman Riley Battle
added 15 points off the
bench on 6-for-11
shooting. The
Mountaineers shot 55%
from the field in the
first half and rallied
to tie the game late in
the first half but could
only manage 42% in the
second half and couldn't
stop five SRS players
from reaching double
digits in scoring.
SU did hold a
significant edge in
rebounding, 33-23.
Both teams each shot 50%
from behind the arc for
the game.
