Ozarks Holds Off
Schreiner for 84-76 Win
Freshman Andre Williams
had his best offensive
game of his young
career, scoring 19
points to lead Ozarks
past visiting Schreiner,
84-76. Williams is
from San Antonio
(Warren) and missed only
one shot all game.
Williams came out
shooting well and put
Ozarks on top in the
opening minutes with
back-to-back three point
shots. He hit two
more before halftime as
Ozarks carried a 44-40
lead at the break.
Ozarks lead can be
directly attributed to
outstanding long range
shooting. The
Eagles (4-3, 1-2 in ASC)
were 8-12 from three
point distance in the
opening half.
Ozarks only cooled off
slightly in the second
half, and still hit 4-9
triple tries.
Schreiner sophomore
Keith Perry's basket
with just under 16
minutes remaining
brought SU within three
points, but that would
be as close as the
visitors would get.
An 8-0 Ozarks run gave
the home team just
enough margin for error
as they kept the
Mountaineers (2-5, 2-2
in ASC) at bay the rest
of the way.
Perry led Schreiner in
scoring with 18 points
on 6-11 shooting.
Sophomore point guard
Cory Tellis had 17
points and six assists.
Freshman Mark Mahaffy
was strong in the post
with 13 points and a
game-high 8 rebounds.
The Mountaineers now
have a lengthy holiday
break. They return
to action on January 3rd
when the Mountaineers
host Louisiana College
in Edington Gym.
