Turner
Earns Second ASC POW
Award
Schreiner junior men's
basketball player Ralph
Turner has
made a big splash in his
first year in a
Schreiner uniform.
For the second time this
season, Turner earned
ASC West Division
Player-of-the-Week
honors for his play.
This time it was for
games played during the
week ending last
Saturday. Last
month, Turner was co-ASC
West Division
Player-of-the-Week for
the period of December
18-20.
This time, Turner is
transferred to Schreiner
after playing at Cal
State-LA earned the
award outright by
averaging 24.5 points,
8.5 rebounds and 5
assists over a two-game
span that saw SU both
win and lose. One
of those games was the
first Schreiner win vs.
Mary Hardin-Baylor since
the 1999-2000 season -
SU's first as an NCAA
Division III member.
Turner went 18-for-20 from
the free throw line,
shot 59% from the field,
had two steals and hit
the game-winner jumper
with :01 left on the
clock for the 74-72 win
to beat the defending
ASC champions in
Kerrville.
Turner is the league's
only two-time winner of
the award this year. |
