Martinez
Finishes 14th at ASC Championships
Arnie Martinez stood in
sixth place at the ASC Championships in McKinney, TX after
two rounds of play. Despite a disastrous start to the
third round (back-to-back double bogeys) Martinez got two of
the shots back with birdies on his fourth and eighth holes.
Unfortunately, that's when the storms rolled in on the
Stonebridge Ranch course. During the time when the
storms were heaviest, Martinez had a rough stretch of holes
early on his final nine and narrowly missed making All-ASC
by two shots. Martinez shot 74-74-80 over the two days
of the championships and competed as an individual.
This is the first year that the ASC only allowed the top
eight qualifying teams to compete for the men's
championship. In the past, all teams were invited to
the championship tournament. To qualify for the
championships this year, players had to meet eligibility
requirements. Martinez was the only individual from
any ASC team not already qualified for the championships
that met the eligibility criteria to compete. |
