Martinez Finishes 12th, Mountaineers Fifth at LMC Invite

Schreiner's men's golf team finished 5th at the Lon Morris College Invitational at The Woods at Jacksonville.  SU was the only non-scholarship team in a field that consisted of several nationally ranked junior colleges.

On the first day of the tournament, all players had to endure two lightning delays and played most of the round in cold, rainy and sloppy conditions.  Sophomore Arnie Martinez led the Mountaineers with a 12th place finish individually.  He shot 78 in the miserable weather on Monday and rebounded with a 73 on Tuesday under much friendlier conditions.

Freshman Jake Torres shot 81-75 and placed in 24th position.  Another two freshmen, Steven Bell (84-78) and Matt Schoolcraft (82-83) finished 31st and 36th respectively.  For Schoolcraft, it was his first collegiate competition.  Schreiner shot 325 in the first round and 309 in the final round.  Host Lon Morris College won their own tournament.
