Grona Leads SU Men to 4th Place Finish after First Round

The Schreiner Men's Golf team is right in the middle of the pack after the first round of the Schreiner Fall Classic.  The second and final round will be played tomorrow at Kerrville's Scott Schreiner Golf Course.

Junior Kyle Grona stands in 8th place individually after tying his career low tournament score of 71.  UT-Brownsville's Adam Haley had the day's low score of 66.

Schreiner shot a 299 total in the first round and trails nationally-ranked (#3) UT-Tyler (282), NAIA Division I UT-Brownsville (283) and LeTourneau (296).

Hardin-Simmons shot a 307 for fifth place.  Concordia is in sixth with a 311 total and Texas A&M International is seventh at 319.

Sophomore's Jay Chapman and Jacob Torres shot 74 and 77 respectively.  Junior Brent Stanford shot his tournament low of 77 as well.  Freshman Jay Ray shot 79.  Schreiner also played three medalists in the event.  Mark Salazar shot 76, Will Ramon 79 and Raul Alvarado 82.
