Men in Fourth Place after First Day of Spring Shootout at
Comanche Trace

The Schreiner Men's Golf team is in fourth place out of
eight teams after the first day of the inaugural Schreiner
Spring Shootout at Comanche Trace.
NCAA Division I UT-Pan American leads the tournament with a
300 team score, while #29 ranked McMurry is only two strokes
back at 302. Texas Lutheran (#9 in the latest Golfstat
rankings) is in third at 315 and SU is at 325.
Hardin-Simmons shot 326 for fifth followed by LeTourneau
(331), Concordia-Texas (345) and NCAA Division II Texas A&M
International (357).
UTPA's Armen Kirakossian shot the only under par round of
the day in cold, overcast conditions. His teammate,
Shane Pearce is in second place at 73. Leading the way
for Schreiner is sophomore Jay Chapman who came back from an
opening nine holes of 41 to shoot 79 and is in 11th place.
Junior Kyle Grona is one shot back with an 80.
Freshman Jared Cornish, playing in his first collegiate
event, shot an 81. Freshman Mark Salazar shot 85 and
Brent Stanford shot 86. Freshman Will Ramon, playing
as a medalist, shot 84.
The tournament concludes
tomorrow with another 18 holes at Comanche Trace, beginning
at 9 am.
