Mountaineers
Now 5-1 in ASC with Win over LeTourneau
Schreiner
gave up an early lead to visiting LeTourneau but
tied the match before halftime and then used a
decisive 60-second stretch in the second half to
put the match away, 3-1.
LU's Justin Rector
scored less than 10 minutes in to give
LeTourneau the early edge. Schreiner
dominated the period offensively, outshooting LU
17-7 and the dominance paid off as
Tino Albarran
scored his sixth goal of the season (off
Ernest Villarreal's
third assist of the year) with less than five
minutes to go until halftime.
With the scored
still tied at 1-1 twelve minutes into the second
half, a quick two-goal run put the match out of
reach.
Chad Baker
scored the game winner at the 58 minute mark off
an assist from
Tyler Strickland.
Then less than one minute later,
Jorge Pineda
doubled the lead off an assist from Strickland
(giving him four for the year) and Baker.
The three goals were more than enough for the
tenacious Mountaineer defense to maintain.
SU outshot LeTourneau 28-15. With the win,
Schreiner improves to 5-1 in ASC play. |
