Albarran, Ramos,
Morrison Earn NSCAA/adidas All-Region
The
awards keep coming for Schreiner Men's Soccer.
Coming off SU's 12-5-1 overall record (10-4 in
the ASC), which set school records for
wins overall and in the ASC, three Mountaineers
added to their off-season awards haul. Junior midfielder
Tino Albarran
was named NSCAA/adidas first team All-Region.
Schreiner plays in the highly competitive South
Central Region The South Central
region may be the biggest geographically,
stretching from Florida, Georgia and Kentucky in
the east to Illinois and Missouri in the north
to New Mexico in the west. Albarran is the
first Mountaineer to earn NSCAA/adidas first
team all-region honors. Sophomore goalkeeper
Nick Morrison
and
senior midfielder
David Ramos
each
were recognized on the NSCAA second team
All-Region squad. For Ramos, it is his
second consecutive year of being recognized on
the All-Region second team. Last year, he
became the first SU Men's Soccer player ever to
receive NSCAA/adidas all-region recognition.
Albarran was Schreiner's top offensive threat in
2006 and was among the ASC leaders in goals (10)
and points (24). Morrison anchored one of
the ASC's toughest defenses and finished with a
save average of .819 while recording four
shutouts. In two seasons, Morrison is
already SU's all-time leader in shutouts
with 11. Ramos finished tied for the ASC lead
in assists with 10 and assists per game at .56.
Because he earned
first-team All-Region, Albarran now will be
considered for NSCAA/adidas All-America honors.
Last week, Albarran and senior
Ben Roell
earned d3kicks.com all-region recognition.
That was the first time that a Schreiner Men's
Soccer player had ever achieved recognition from
that site. D3kicks.com is a national
soccer reporting website while the NSCAA is the
national soccer coaches association. |
