Basin's Early Goal is Enough for 1-0 Win
NCAA Division II
(scholarship) UT-Permian Basin got an early goal
and made it stand up for a 1-0 non-conference
win in Kerrville. UTPB (4-7 overall) had
more offensive chances early in the match.
Roughly 19 minutes in, the Schreiner defense was
having a tough time controlling the ball in
front of its own net. After a shot off the
cross bar deflected away, UTPB's Nickolas
Kettlety corralled the rebound and slid it past
SU senior goalkeeper Jeff Winton and the
Mountaineer defense for a 1-0 lead.
The score remained
the same at the break. In the second half,
again UTPB had more good chances but Schreiner
hung tough. Still, the Mountaineers
couldn't crack the front of the net.
Neither team scored in the second half and
UT-Permian Basin hung on for the 1-0 win.
UTPB outshot the Mountaineers (2-5-1) 18-6 in
the contest. |
