Say It Ain't So:  SU Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 Again

For the fifth time in six matches this fall, Schreiner Men's Soccer lost a one-goal match.  The latest was a 1-0 home loss to Texas Lutheran at Mountaineer Field.  Of those five one-goal losses, four were of the 1-0 variety.

It didn't take long for the visitors to get the decisive edge in the match.  Just six minutes in, TLU's Michael Weatherby scored on an Alex Hegert assist to take a 1-0 lead.  Despite the fact that Schreiner outshot the visitors in both halves, the home team could not give their fans what they wanted - a tying goal.

Eight Mountaineers (0-6, 0-3 in ASC) had shots in the match with five being on goal.  Freshmen Zach Williams and Tanner Overstake each had two to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Again, the SU defense was stout and up to the challenge.  Freshman goalkeeper Matt Johnson only had to make two saves as his defensive unit kept the TLU pressure to a minimum but it just wasn't enough.

The team has some time to regroup before traveling to east Texas next weekend for its next pair of matches.  SU is bound to break through soon.
