Visiting Hardin-Simmons remained in the hunt for the ASC regular-season title with a 3-1 win over Schreiner in Kerrville on Friday.  All of the goals were scored after halftime.

The match was basically even in all respects through 45 minutes of play.  With the score 0-0 coming out of halftime, it didn't take long for the Cowboys (10-4-4, 9-1-2 in ASC) to take the lead.  Forty-two seconds into the final period, the Cowboys grabbed the slim lead on a goal by Estevan Arbaiza.  Schreiner (2-9-4, 2-7-3 in ASC) didn't take long to pull even.

Freshman Phillip Anderson scored his team-leading 5th goal of the season on an assist by another freshman, Lee Bosserman,  just over 60 seconds later tie the match at 1-1.  Going into the midpoint of the second half, it would remain that way on the scoreboard but HSU's Isaac Hicks would score the eventual game-winner in the 63rd minute.

The Mountaineers still were within a goal - a familiar spot for the 2008 team - with time to play but a rare SU defensive breakdown, followed immediately after defensive quarterback Jeremy Reinhard left the match with an injury, gave the Cowboys a big insurance goal.  Chris Hunter took full advantage of the lapse near SU's goal and scored off a nice pass from Arbaiza with seven minutes remaining to seal the win.

Schreiner plays its final match Saturday at 3:00 pm against McMurry at Mountaineer Field.  It will be the final home match for SU's three seniors, Reinhard, Brad Baker and Nick Morrison.  Morrison, a goalkeeper, holds both the SU career and single season shutout records but has missed nearly the entire season with a knee injury.  Baker has been out since the middle of the season battling the effects of a concussion.  Reinhard's status for the final match is unknown.
