nearly pulled off the road win in a tough 4-3 loss.
"We had service breaks late in both #1 and #2 doubles

Jennings. "Sasam and Brannen also had chances to
win at #1 and #4 singles but lost to quality opponents. The

SU Smashes
LeTourneau Before Rains Halt Play
The

play and handled LeTourneau, 4-1.

Winterringer, #3
Doubles Team Place 5th at HEB Invitational
After a balmy
winter season leading up to the team's first spring
event, it would figure that an arctic blast would pound
the Hill Country for the Schreiner-hosted HEB
Invitational. Eight teams competed in the event,
including two NCAA Division II programs, juco powerhouse
Temple College and several American Southwest Conference
schools.
Riley Winterringer
and SU's #3 doubles team of
Christian Sasam and
Zach Browning had
the most success -- each finishing fifth in their
respective flights. Winterringer beat
counterparts from both St. Mary's (6-2, 6-3) and McMurry
(6-1, 7-5) to finish 2-1 in the event. The

due to an injury to

teams from Texas Lutheran and Howard Payne (each by 8-4
scores) and also finished 2-1. Sasam finished
7th in #1 singles. After a tough three-set loss in
the second round (10-8 in the third set), he bounced
back to win 6-4, 6-4 over Howard Payne's #1 player.

equaled Sasam as he won 6-4, 6-3 over McMurry at #2

Christian Sasam (Pearland, TX) was
knocked out by top seed and eventual winner David Wu from
Hardin-Simmons but gave Wu his toughest match of the
weekend. Sophomores
Riley Winterringer (Austin, TX) and

Bennet of McMurry.

Josh Schumann (San Antonio, TX) in the third round. In the men's doubles
championship, it was an All-Schreiner affair as the tandem
