Sasam Falls to JuCo National Champ in Finals

Junior Christian Sasam continued his outstanding play at the Tempe/UMHB 4-Way last weekend, reaching the flight #1 final.  In the final, he faced Damion Johnson from Temple Junior College, the reigning national champion.  Sasam came up just short, falling 6-4, 6-4 but he was not the only Mountaineer to find success.

Sophomore Trey Brannen found similar success but suffered the same result in #2 singles.  He advanced to the finals but fell to Temple's Jonathan Hudson, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.  Junior teammate Brent Coleman was also knocked out by Hudson and finished in fourth place.  Junior Josh Schumann won the flight #3 singles championship, defeating SU freshman Ben Jackson in the final 7-5, 6-4.

The match featured Schreiner, the nationally-recognized Temple JC program as well as Southwestern University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor from the ASC.
