Men's Tennis Drops Pair of Matches
The SU Men's Tennis team had a
tough weekend, first falling 5-4 to visiting UT-Tyler and
then suffering a 9-0 shutout at Trinity. In the match
vs. UT-Tyler, the Mountaineers came up just short in two of
the three doubles matches. SU's #2 pairing of Trey
Brannen and Carlo Sasam won their match 9-8. Riley
Winterringer and Ben Jackson (#3 doubles) battled back from
an early deficit but lost in a tiebreak, 9-8.
In singles action, UTT quickly
won its matches at #2 and #6 singles. With UTT needing
only one point to secure the team victory, Schreiner's Sasam
(#3 singles), Brannen (#4 singles) won hard-fought matches
to bring Schreiner within 4-3. Christian Sasam was
toppled in his #1 singles match, giving UTT the point needed
for victory. Jackson prevailed at #5 singles to make
the final score 5-4. |
