Strong Doubles Play Helps Schreiner Beat Southwestern
The Schreiner Men's Tennis
team defeated Southwestern, 6-3, led by an SU sweep in
doubles action. Seniors Brent Coleman and Riley
Winterringer got SU (3-2) off on a strong note, winning 8-5
over their #1 doubles counterparts. Sophomores
Christian Sasam and Ben Jackson cruised at #2 doubles with
an 8-1 win. Senior Josh Schumann and freshman Daniel
Okland won 8-5 at #3 doubles to complete the sweep and give
Schreiner a 3-0 edge entering singles action.
Sasam, playing #1 singles, had a tough fight with
Southwestern's Michael Party, but prevailed in three sets,
5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Schumann won at #3 singles by a 6-4,
6-2 score and Jackson won his match at #5 singles, 6-4, 7-6. |
