SU Men's Tennis Breaks
Through to Beat SRSU, 7-2
Schreiner Men's Tennis got the
monkey off their backs with a 7-2 win over Sul Ross State in
a non-conference match played in Tyler, TX Saturday.
The match was originally supposed to be played in Longview
but was moved on account of rain. The match was the
first win of the season for SU (1-4) and new head coach
Garry Nadebaum.
The Mountaineers started the season slowly, losing
consecutive matches to national powers, UT-Dallas and
UT-Tyler, and then played nationally-ranked NCAA Division II
Southeastern Oklahoma State with similar results on Friday.
Later Friday afternoon, SU lost at LeTourneau, 9-0 but
bounced back against the Lobos to post their first win of
the season. The two teams meet in Kerrville next
Friday and this match will count towards the ASC standing
and Schreiner hopes to duplicate the feat when it counts. |
