Mountaineers Fall in Final
Three Matches of Season
The Schreiner men's tennis team had similar results in each
of its final three matches of the 2009 season. In each
match, at Hardin-Simmons, at McMurry and vs. NCAA Division
II St. Mary's, SU lost by 9-0 scores. Schreiner
finishes its season with 1-5 record in the ASC and 2-15
record overall. The Mountaineers only had one
returning player from last year, has no seniors or juniors
on its roster.
In the best match at Hardin-Simmons, freshman Trey Hernandez
fell to HSU's Andy Cariens at #1 singles, 3-6, 2-6.
In the closest contest of the St. Mary's match, sophomores
Jacob Chesnut and Stephen Franklin were edged, 6-8, at #3
doubles.
New head coach Garry Nadebaum will bring in his first
recruiting class this fall and add that group of players to
the returners from the current team. Expect
significant improvement next year as Coach Nadebaum will
have time to make his impact felt on the young group of
players that he inherited. |
