The
winter sports season starts tomorrow
night with Men's Basketball's home
game vs. Southwestern. Show your
support for the Mountaineers by
wearing your school colors to the
game.
Before we get into the next week's
schedule of events, we want to
recognize a bunch of Schreiner fall
sports stars who've been recognized
by the American Southwest Conference
for their achievements:
VOLLEYBALL: Freshman Tiffany
Miller was named First Team All-ASC
West Division and ASC Newcomer of
the Year. Senior Whitney Barron,
junior Kassie Barlow and sophomore
Julie Peddy all earned All-ASC
Honorable Mention. Congratulations
to all four players, head coach John
Wyatt Greenlee and to the SU
Volleyball team for a strong
turnaround season. Next fall, the
ASC better look out because
Schreiner Volleyball will be a team
to contend with.
MEN'S SOCCER: Junior Tino
Albarran and sophomore Nick Morrison
were named the Outstanding Offensive
and Defensive Players, respectively,
for the ASC for 2006. Tino and Nick
also were named first team All-ASC
as were seniors David Ramos and Ben
Roell. Daniel Cortez was named
second team All-ASC and senior Chad
Baker and freshman Michael Flynn
earned Honorable Mention All-ASC.
Coach Paul Hayes also was named ASC
Coach of the Year for the second
consecutive year. Congratulations to
the those players, coach Hayes and
the entire Mountaineer team for
another outstanding and
record-breaking year.
ASC Academic Awards should be
announced next week and the
Mountaineers will be strongly
represented in all fall sports. |
