Schreiner Soccer and Volleyball are
in their final two weekends of the
season. This weekend, none have
on-campus competitions but next
weekend, all three teams conclude
their seasons right here on campus.
Also, SU Men's and Women's
Basketball has begun practice and
will have their first respective
scrimmages next weekend. |

Previous Weeks'
Results:
VOLLEYBALL
went 2-2 last week. Lost to ETBU,
0-3; beat LeTourneau, 3-1; beat
Mississippi College, 3-0; and lost
to TLU, 0-3. The first three matches
were in the ASC Crossover
Tournament. In three of the four
matches, sophomore Tiffany Miller
and junior Xandria White each had
double-digit kills for the
Mountaineers.
WOMEN'S
SOCCER went 1-1 last
week. Lost to UT-Tyler, 0-7; beat
Concordia-Texas, 5-0. Freshman
Ashley Westervelt had two goals in
the SU win, while fellow freshman
Danni Gomez had one goal and two
assists and another freshman,
Natalie White, had one goal and one
assist.
MEN'S
SOCCER went 0-2 last
week. Lost to UT-Tyler, 0-1; lost to
Concordia-Texas, 1-2. The
Mountaineers continue to lose close
contests. Two more tough decisions
last weekend. Senior Tino Albarran
had SU's lone goal in the loss to
CTX.
MEN'S GOLF
finished fifth at the LMC
Invitational. Sophomore Arnie
Martinez was Schreiner's top
finisher (12th individually),
followed by freshman Jake Torres
(24th). The tournament field was
made up of scholarship programs
(except SU) and all struggled with
lousy weather on day #1. In the
second round, the Mountaineers
rebounded with a 309 total. Through
3 fall tournaments, six different
players have placed first or second
for Schreiner.
WOMEN'S GOLF
finished third at the LMC
Invitational. Three SU players
finished in the top 10 individually.
Freshman Kattie Spencer was SU's top
finisher in 8th place, followed by
sophomore Surraya Minhas (9th).
Freshman Liz Calderon was also in
the top 10. SU handled the tough
first day conditions well, but had a
tougher time on day two.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY:
Sophomore Lupe Garza and senior
Lazaro Alvarez were SU's top
finishers at the TLU Invitational.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY:
Junior
Cynthia Valadez was Schreiner's top
finisher at the TLU Invitational in
a time of 31:24.
