A Day of Ups
and Downs; SU Splits on Day #1 of ASC First
Pitch
Schreiner Softball got it's second of several
looks at nationally ranked teams, losing 22-0 to
#3 UT-Tyler, but bounced back later in the day
to clobber UT-Dallas, 11-1. These games
were on day one of the ASC's First Pitch
Tournament in Farmer's Branch, TX. The
Mountaineers (5-2) will play two more games
against two other members of the ASC East
Division tomorrow on the same fields before
returning to Kerrville.
In the first game,
it wasn't a case of SU playing poorly, but that
UT-Tyler played very well. With the win
blowing out towards the fences, UTT (7-0) hit
five homers in four innings against senior
pitcher Patsy Toman. Schreiner was held to
three hits in the game.
In the second game, freshman Becca Hay pitched
on a field that had the wind blowing in.
She held UT-Dallas (2-4) to three hits in going
a complete game. SU was led offensively by
seniors Lyndsie Travis (3 hits) and Tara
Gonzales (2 hits). No other information
was available at the time this was written.
Schreiner plays Ozarks tomorrow at 10 am and
Mississippi at noon. |
