Travis
Earns Latest POW Award for SU Softball
Photo: Senior Lyndsie Travis watches her home
run leave the park in the second inning of the
series finale vs. TLU.
Senior Lyndsie
Travis became the fourth member of the Schreiner
Softball team to earn Player of the Week honors
this season as she went 8-for-12 at the plate,
with a home run, four doubles and 7 RBI last
weekend. The Mountaineers finished the
most successful regular season in the program's
history by winning three of four games vs. Texas
Lutheran and locked up the school's first berth
in the ASC Softball Championships since 2003.
Travis (Helotes, TX / O'Connor HS) joins sophomore catcher Marla Jendrusch,
freshman pitcher Becca Hay and senior second
baseman Sarah Trevino who have each already
earned either pitcher or hitter of the week
honors earlier this season.
Travis is currently hitting .392 for the season,
and has a team-leading nine home runs, 44 RBI
and 10 doubles. She is just outside the
top 10 in the ASC in batting average (11th), is
third in RBI , fourth in total bases and sixth
in slugging percentage and homers.
She leads her team into the ASC Championships
this Thursday in a first round game against the
nation's #3 ranked team, Louisiana College, at
Trinity View Park in Irving, TX at 6:00 pm.
The tournament is a double-elimination format.
LC is the ASC East Division's #2 team and
Schreiner is the #3 seed from the ASC West.
Louisiana College was the NCAA national
tournament's runner up last year. |
