KERRVILLE,
TX
-- Mary Hardin-Baylor kept up its winning
ways with another doubleheader sweep over Schreiner,
winning 7-0 in the
first game and 6-3 in the second game.
UMHB (8-0 in ASC) remained unbeaten by shutting
out SU (1-9 in ASC) on four hits in the opener
on Saturday. Junior Becca Hay had two of the
Mountaineer hits but the rest of the team
only managed two others.
Mary Hardin-Baylor got all the runs they needed
off Hay in the third inning when they scored
three times. UMHB added four more runs in
the fifth to put the game away.
In the second game, UMHB
went ahead 2-0 but saw SU battle back to tie the
score in the third inning.
Schreiner took only its second lead of the
series by scoring a run in the bottom of the
fifth, but UMHB scored four times in the sixth
to go ahead to stay. Sophomore Ally Morris
went the distance, giving up six runs and taking
the loss. Hay had two more hits in the
second game to pace SU. Junior Ashly
Bouthot, freshman Kayla Averitt and sophomore
Callie Caesar each had an RBI for the
Mountaineers.
Schreiner will look to break their nine game
losing skid in ASC play when the team
travels to Sul Ross State to play four games
next weekend. Friday's doubleheader will
start at 5:00 pm in Alpine. |
