SU COMES UP JUST SHORT AT
UD TOURNAMENT

Schreiner traveled to Dallas
to play in the five-team
University of Dallas
Invitational. In the
opener, SU faced 18th-ranked
Austin College. The
Mountaineers lost in three
games, but each was closely
contested. Later
Friday, Schreiner took on
Martin Luther College and
fell in five tough games
(22-30, 30-27, 25-30, 30-16,
9-15). On Saturday,
the Mountaineers faced a
marathon run of matches,
first against host Dallas.
Again it took five tough
games (30-19, 28-30, 30-26,
26-30, 12-15) but SU fell.
After that match, the
Mountaineers had to turn
around and immediately take
on a rested Maryville (MO)
team. SU started
quickly, winning the first
two games 30-23 and 30-25
but the amount of games
played took their toll as SU
dropped the final three
games by 28-30, 21-30 and
14-16 scores.
To complete a long week of
action, Schreiner traveled
to Seguin on Tuesday and
dropped three games at Texas
Lutheran in ASC play.
Over the weekend, freshman
middle hitter Tiffany Miller
powered the Mountaineers
with 65 kills while senior
libero Whitney Barron was
tops for SU with 85 digs and
sophomore Julie Peddy -
playing for the first time
in two years - had 169
