SU Volleyball Paints the
Town

(9/18/06) This past
Saturday the SU Women’s
Volleyball Team took
advantage of an open weekend
in the middle of their
season to give back to the
Kerrville community that so
strongly supports the school
and the athletic
department. The team took
the afternoon for a
community service project at
the Doyle School Community
Center in Kerrville,
cleaning, painting and
refurbishing the Center’s
play area. The Doyle School
hosts after school programs
for disadvantaged children
of all ages, and also serves
as a home for programs for
adult literacy, ESL and job
skills programs.
“We were scheduled to play
in a tournament in Dallas,”
said coach John Wyatt
Greenlee, “but it fell
through and we found
ourselves with a hole in our
schedule. That provided us
with a great opportunity to
reach out and give back to
the Hill Country community
that gives so much to
Schreiner.”
In addition to the
playground refurbishment,
the team plans to engage in
a mentoring program through
the Doyle School after the
volleyball season is over.
