Drop First Two Matches in Minnesota

first day in MN but her teammates didn't fare as
well.
Schreiner
Volleyball took a big step up in competition on
Friday, flying across the country to do so, but
found day #1 of the Augsburg Invitational not to
their liking. The Mountaineers (2-2)
dropped both matches by 3-0 scores.
The first match was against tournament host
Augsburg College. SU fell by game scores
of 25-16, 25-15, 27-25. Schreiner had
positive attacking percentages of .100 or better
in each game but was still overpowered by the
highly regarded Aggies (5-1). Sophomore
Caitlin Gayle (10 kills) led the way while
junior teammate Tiffany Miller had the highest
attacking percentage (.308). Senior
Xandria White added 8 kills and sophomore Misty
Fletcher seven.
In the second match, Schreiner took on 4-0
Macalester and fared no better. Again, SU
fell in three games by scores of 25-16, 25-16,
25-20. Again, Gayle led the way - this
time with 8 kills. She also led with a
.583 attack percentage. Junior Brittany
Alvillar easily led the Mountaineers with 21
digs in the two matches. Assists
statistics were not kept in the matches.
Schreiner has two more matches today in
Minnesota. |
