Undefeated TLU Thumps Schreiner Volleyball, 3-0
Photo: It wasn't a good night for Tiffany
Miller (5) and her mates, but she was named POW
earlier Tuesday
Visiting Texas
Lutheran kept its perfect record in ASC play
intact with a 3-0 win over Schreiner in
Kerrville. TLU (15-2, 12-0) won
convincingly by the scores of 25-13, 25-18,
25-18 and sent a large a boisterous crowd home
unhappy.
Schreiner (9-10, 6-5 in ASC) was hoping that
this would be the match that they could use to
vault back into the race for as high as second
in the ASC but the Lady Bulldogs never gave the
home team a chance.
The Mountaineers looked tight from the beginning
and made way too many unforced errors to make it
easy for TLU. SU had 29 attack errors in
just three games. Leading the way was
Schreiner was Caitlin Gayle with 8 kills and
Tiffany Miller with six. Brittany Alvillar
had 10 digs and Malorie Westerholm had 16
assists. Gayle still managed a .500 attack
percentage and leads the ASC in the category.
One positive that was announced earlier in the
day is that junior Tiffany Miller was named ASC
Player-of-the-Week for last week's action.
Miller, who is second in the ASC in attack
percentage, had 35 kills in three matches at the
ASC Crossover last week. SU went 2-1 and
in the matches and its only loss was to East
Texas Baptist, the ASC East Division leader.
In that match, Schreiner fell behind 2-0 in
games, but rallied to take the next two games.
ETBU won in five, but Schreiner gained a
tremendous amount of confidence in the match
which carried over to the next two wins.
Unfortunately, that aura was missing on Tuesday
night vs. TLU. Schreiner has 10 days
before its next match. |
