All-ASC honors again. Photo by D. Howard.
After a season that saw them both among the
ASC's leading hitters throughout the year,
Schreiner junior Tiffany Miller and sophomore
Caitlin Gayle each were named as top performers
in the ASC.
Miller was second in the ASC in blocks at
1.08/game and was sixth in hitting percentage at
.317 among all ASC players. She had some
of her best matches against the best
competition. She earned a 1.556 hitting
percentage at #25 Southwestern on September
12th, knocking down 14 kills with no errors.
She had 18 kills in a tough five game loss
against ASC East - and ASC Tournament - champion
East Texas Baptist on October 3rd. She
also had a team-high 12 blocks when SU defeated
Mississippi College. Ironically, that
effort took place later in the day after SU
played ETBU on October 3rd.
Gayle was equally as dominant in a break-out
season for her. She finished fourth in the
ASC in hitting percentage (.330) and led the
conference for a good part of the year in that
category. Her team highs were 20 kills
against NAIA Huston-Tillotson (September 12th),
a 1.125 hitting percentage in the same match,
and 10 blocks in the ETBU match.
Both players will be expected to lead head coach
Phillip White's Schreiner team next fall. |
