UT-Tyler Edges Out Mountaineers
The
UT-Tyler Patriots came back from a first half deficit to win
at home over Schreiner by a score of 72-69. The
Mountaineers pushed the defending East Division champions to
the edge, shooting a higher percentage and equaling the
Patriots in rebounds. But SU also committed 31 turnovers
and allowed UT-Tyler to take almost thirty more shot
attempts. The result was a close Tyler victory as the SU
squad lost its first conference game of the season.
Junior
guard
Lynn Stow led both teams in
scoring with 19 points while shooting 6-7 from the floor and
6-6 from the free throw line.
Vanessa Lopez scored 16
points, and sophomore
Monica Enriquez scored 11
points and pulled down 6 rebounds. The Mountaineers shot 31
free throws to UT-Tyler’s 18, and made a respectable 83.9%
from the charity stripe.
The loss
drops SU to 2-2 for the season, and 2-1 in ASC play. The
Lady Mountaineers are at home for their next game on
November 30th against the Eagles of the
University of the Ozarks. Tip-off time for that game is
scheduled for
5:30 pm.
