Division I Texas State Runs Over Mountaineers
Head Coach Jeanette McKinney will be glad to
know that Schreiner doesn't have to face any more Division I
teams this season. Texas State was the second full
scholarship program that SU faced this season and the
outcome wasn't any better than last month's loss at UT-Pan
American as the Bobcats scored the game's first 13 points en
route to a commanding 99-42 win in San Marcos.
SU's
Monica Enriquez' (team-high
13 points) three-point basket temporarily stopped TSU's run
but the much taller Bobcats then countered with a 21-4 binge
and were cruising by halftime with a 54-21 lead.
The Mountaineers could only manage 24% field goal shooting
in the first half. The cold-shooting would continue in
the second half, as SU shot just 18% after the break.
Texas State out-rebounded Schreiner 50-23 and shot 62% from
the floor for the game.
Vanessa Lopez scored 12
points for Schreiner on 4-for-6 shooting.
Courtney Davis added 10
points.
Kerrie Carter earned her
first start of the season and had a team-high five rebounds
and three assists in the loss.
