Tornados Make the Most of Final Minute to Gain Win
Visiting Concordia-Austin
used a huge advantage on the offensive glass and made the
key points in the deciding final two minutes to earn a 75-68
win at Schreiner. The Tornados had 10 offensive
rebounds in the first half and then out-rebounded the
Mountaineers 24-13 in the second half. Still the game
was in the balance with less than two minutes remaining.
Leslye Yates hit a big three point basket and then Tiffany
Turner and Kassandra Bills both went 2-for-2 from the line
and the Mountaineers couldn't recover.
Despite
the huge disadvantage on the offensive boards, Schreiner
only trailed at halftime 36-35. In the second half,
the Mountaineers jumped on top and quickly were up by 10
points but CUA rallied back and kept the margin at four or
less going into the final moments.
