Cru Holds Off SU Rally, 87-74
The University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor used a late 10-2 run to stunt Schreiner's
second half rally and earned an 87-74 win in Belton.
UMHB
(11-6, 9-4 in ASC) build a 43-29 lead at halftime and
extended it to 17 (61-44) with 13 minutes remaining but the
Mountaineers rallied and were able to cut the lead to five
points, 77-72, with just over four minutes to go. That
was as close as Schreiner (5-14, 5-10 in ASC) would get.
The Mountaineers were able to stay with top-ranked UMHB
because of their free throw shooting prowess. SU made
22 of its 31 attempts on the game but lost the battle on the
boards 45-35.
Courtney Davis led SU with
21 points, while
Monica Enriquez had 20
points and six assists. Davis was 11-for-12 from the
free throw line.
