Big Second Half Fuels
ETBU Win
Coming off of a much
needed victory against
TLU, the SU Women's
Basketball team was
hoping to continue their
winning ways n the road
in Marshall, TX.
Host East Texas Baptist
had lost three straight
games, and the
Mountaineers hoped to
make it four. But
it was not to be, as a
50-point second half
propelled the Tigers to
an 81-65 victory.
Schreiner kept the game
close in the first half,
despite starting the
game by shooting 1-10
from the floor.
The Mountaineers went
into half-time with the
score knotted at 31
points each. As
the second half began
Schreiner scored two
quick baskets to take a
four point lead.
But ETBU grabbed the
lead back at 47-45, and
never relinquished it.
The Tigers shot a
blistering 67.9% in the
second half, and turned
up the screws
defensively to hold
Schreiner to just 23.5%
shooting for the period.
Schreiner was led in
scoring by freshman
guard Anna Fareed, who
scored 18 points, but
shot 4-14 from the
floor. Courtney
Davis had 13 points on
4-16 shooting.
ETBU was led by the duo
of Karlee Wilson and
Dana Alexander, who had
20 and 19 points
respectively.
The loss dropped
Schreiner to 4-8
overall, and 3-5 in the
ASC. ETBU up to an
identical record of 4-8
and 3-5.
