Turnovers Allow
Louisiana, Mississippi
Each to Roll over
Mountaineers
Schreiner fell well
behind by halftime and
was easily beaten on the
road at both Louisiana
College and Mississippi
College during a long
road trip last weekend.
Schreiner lost to
Louisiana, 90-59, and at
Mississippi College,
101-56.
In the first half of the
Louisiana (3-2, 1-2 in
ASC) game, SU committed
26 turnovers and that
allowed LC to build up a
20-point lead.
Schreiner did a better
job of hanging on to the
ball in the second half
but the damage was
already done.
Freshman Desiree
Contreras led the
Mountaineers with 12
points and senior Monica
Enriquez scored 11.
Sophomore Angelica Ugo
had 8 rebounds while
Contreras and sophomore
Samantha Rawlinson each
added 6. SU had
only 4 assists in the
game.
Against Mississippi
College, the
Mountaineers struggled
even more.
Mississippi put
Schreiner in a huge hole
early, and led 57-23 at
the midway point.
Again, turnovers were a
big part of their
undoing. MC (5-1,
2-1 in ASC) crunched SU
on the boards, 62-34.
Schreiner added 31 more
turnovers in the
lopsided game.
Enriquez tied for
game-high scoring honors
with 19 points.
She also tied freshman
teammate Caitlin Gayle
with 5 rebounds and
added three assists.
Freshman Hannah Burleson
came off the bench to
score 9 points in nine
minutes of action.
