HSU Rolls to Big Early
Lead and Cruises Past
Schreiner
Hardin-Simmons built a
27-7 lead and were never
threatened in a 82-69
home win over Schreiner.
The first half lead grew
to 34-11 before a
three-pointer by senior
Monica Enriquez started
a small rally. By
halftime, SU was still
trailing 40-27.
In the second half, the
Cowgirl (6-3 in ASC)
lead grew back to 27
points, 74-47, with just
over seven minutes left.
The closest SU (0-9 in
ASC) got was the final
score.
Enriquez, who has
battled through illness
and injury the past few
games, had yet another
brilliant performance in
the loss. She
scored 18 points, had 11
rebounds, 8 assists and
8 steals to come close
(again) to the very
elusive
quadruple-double.
Freshman Hannah Burleson
also scored 18 points
off the bench.
Senior Xandria White
scored 9 points and
brought down 8 rebounds.
SU plays at McMurry on
Saturday in Abilene.
