CTX Uses Second Half Run to Down Cold-Shooting SU

Concordia-Texas went on a 16-0 run early in the second half to beat visiting Schreiner, 77-56, in Austin.  Schreiner was only able to shoot 30% from the field for the game but still managed to keep the contest close through the first 20 minutes.

In the first half, the game was a back-and-forth affair with Concordia maintaining a small lead early in the half and Schreiner maintaining the lead for a good portion of the second 10 minutes.  With SU up two, 24-22, Concordia (6-7 in ASC) used a 12-4 run to close the first half and open a six point lead at the break, 34-28.

The game turned at the 15:06 mark left in the game.  Schreiner (0-11 in ASC) trailed 44-37 at the time, but CTX scored the next 16 points over the ensuing five minutes to put the game away.  The Mountaineers would get no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.

Freshman guard Hannah Burleson had a team-high 16 points.  Senior Monica Enriquez scored 14 and had six steals.  Freshman guard Desiree Contreras, after missing several weeks due to injury and illness, scored nine points off the bench.  Senior Xandria White scored 8 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.  Schreiner was undone by 35 turnovers and only was able to hand out 9 assists.
