Runs Away from SU in
Second Half

points.
Mary Hardin-Baylor used
strong second-half
defense and took
advantage of a unusually
high number of fouls
called on Schreiner to
post a 92-56 win in
Kerrville.
The Mountaineers started
slowly, falling behind
15-6 just four minutes
into the game as the
Lady Cru (8-3 in ASC)
scored early and often
in the paint.
Schreiner settled down
and slowly chipped into
the lead. With
7:45 left before
halftime, UMHB's lead
was down to two, 25-23.
Schreiner took the lead
briefly, 28-27, with
6:01 left in the first
period but Mary
Hardin-Baylor got hot
and quickly got the lead
back and built it up.
The Lady Cru outscored
SU, 20-6, and led 47-34
with one minute left.
Schreiner cut the lead
to 11 at halftime,
47-36.
The second half started
very slowly for the home
team as UMHB went on a
12-0 run over the first
5:30 of the second half.
The visitors were in
control the rest of the
way and got the benefit
of a strange disparity
in fouls called.
For the game, UMHB was
whistled for 13 fouls
while SU was called for
28. Considering
Schreiner never fouled
during the game to send
players to the line to
try to get back into the
game, the disparity was
strange. Schreiner
was whistled for two
technical fouls
disputing the foul
situation.
It was all to no avail
as SU shot 22% from the
field in the second
half.
Monica Enriquez scored
15 points and had 5
rebounds. Freshman
Brandi Park came off the
bench to score 10
points. Senior
Xandria White grabbed 12
rebounds.
Schreiner plays in
Edington Center this
Tuesday against Texas
Lutheran. TLU
edged Schreiner on
December 18th by
one, 84-83.
