BECK LEADS MOUNTAINEER CC IN
HER SECOND RACE
Sophomore Lori Beck was SU's top
finisher at the Southwestern University Invitational in
Georgetown. The women had a chance to watch the men's
race first and noted the hilly course and the different
strategies used to conserve energy. That knowledge
allowed the team to pace itself early and the strategy
resulted in strong finishes as the members of Schreiner
Cross Country caught and passed many competitors later in
the race as the other racers faded
Beck
finished the race with a time of
19:13.2, narrowly edging senior teammate
Margaret Collins who ran a 19:13.8.
Junior Ann Stock completed her second
career race in a time of 23:37.
