#22 HSU CRUISES
PAST MOUNTAINEERS
The day when Schreiner Women's Soccer is ready to
battle perennial national powerhouse Hardin-Simmons
may well be coming but it is as least one more year
away. The Mountaineers certainly are improved
but HSU was clearly better than the young SU squad,
winning 7-0.
HSU scored three quick goals in the first 11 minutes
to take command. Last year, SU may have given
up, but this year's squad full of freshmen doesn't
have a past, and they battled Hardin-Simmons for 55
scoreless minutes in the middle of the match.
In the end, HSU was
too tough as the visitors scored their final four
goals in an 8 minute span. SU junior
goalkeeper Evelyn Gonzalez was busy all afternoon,
facing 48 shots, but was able to to come up with 20
saves in the loss. |
