TLU Cruises to 5-0 Win in ASC Opener
Schreiner was involved
with another 5-0 match in its American Southwest
Conference opener. Unlike the victory SU
posted over the University of Dallas last week, this
outcome had conference powerhouse Texas Lutheran
earning the 5-0 win over the visiting Mountaineers
(1-1, 0-1 in ASC).
TLU's Kelli Layden scored three goals to lead the
Lady Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0 in ASC).
It didn't take long for TLU to take control of the
match. Layden scored two of her goals and
teammate Dani Matthews added another to take a
commanding 3-0 lead just 18 minutes into the match.
All three goals were scored again SU freshman Kari
Kriegel. Another freshmen, Jenn Gamez, started
the second half in goal for the Mountaineers, and
allowed the final two goals.
Schreiner was outshot in the match, 19-4.
Kriegel had 5 saves and Gamez 3 for SU. |
