Mississippi College Escapes with 1-0
Win
For two-thirds of the match, it looked like
Schreiner might just pull off an upset on Senior Day
but a late Mississippi College goal ended the dream
and SU's season. Reagan Eastwood's goal with
15 minutes remaining in the match broke a scoreless
tie and Mississippi College escaped with a slim 1-0
win.
Despite being dominated in shots and shots on goal,
Schreiner was still hanging tough, but the Lady
Choctaws eventually wore down the Mountaineers to
secure the win. Schreiner finished 10th in the
ASC with a 4-11-1 overall record (3-10 in ASC) while
Mississippi finished third in the ASC with a 12-5
(10-3 in ASC) record.
Schreiner was outshot, 26-4, in the match and was on
the wrong side of a 9-2 margin in shots on goal.
The match was the last for SU senior Roxie Harper
and she was recognized in a pre-match ceremony for
her contributions to SU Soccer and to Schreiner
University during her four year career. |
