Five SU Freshmen Named to All-ASC
Squad
Schreiner Women's Soccer is a young team and that
was demonstrated when the ASC all conference awards
were announced. Five SU players, all freshmen,
earned All-ASC Honorable Mention.
Danni Gomez probably had the best year statistically
among the Mountaineers recognized. She
finished 8th in the ASC for points per game with
1.14. Gomez scored six goals and assisted on
four others for a total of 16 points in 14 matches.
She led SU in every offensive category in her first
collegiate season. Natalie White also earned
all conference recognition after a season that saw
her finish second on the team in goals, assists,
shooting percentage, points and shots. She had
four goals and two assists this past season.
Two
Mountaineer defenders, freshmen Kelsey Olvera and
Kaitlyn Moore, also picked up conference recognition
for their defensive exploits. Moore's season
was cut short when she injured her ankle with two
weeks remaining. Olvera, despite being a
defensive player, scored one goal and added one
assist this fall.
The
final Schreiner freshmen to earn recognition was
goalkeeper Kari Kriegel. Kriegel was sixth in
the ASC in both saves and saves per game. She
played nearly 90% of the team's minutes and stopped
105 shots this year.
Schreiner loses only graduating senior Roxie Harper
from this year's squad. |
